Meet our Gulf Coast Health Center Representatives at a Health Fair Near You
At all five of our Gulf Coast Health Center locations, we are committed to serving our communities by providing high quality, affordable, comprehensive healthcare. A major part of serving our communities is through public outreach. If patients in our service areas don’t know what Gulf Coast Health Center provides or are unaware of other health-related services available to them, then we can’t effectively achieve our mission.
Public Outreach and Education at Local Health Fairs
Gulf Coast Health Center’s Community Health Workers regularly attend health fairs organized by a variety of agencies. While in attendance, we do our best to promote the full range of services provided by our expert team of well-rounded healthcare professionals at our Gulf Coast Health Center locations, such as:
- Comprehensive medical care
- Dental care
- Mental healthcare
- Substance abuse treatment, therapy, and other services
- Vision care
- On-site pharmacy
With our presence at health fairs, we also use the opportunity to promote disease management through public health education. This includes information on preventing disease and managing disease with a combination of education, medical treatments, therapies, medications, and lifestyle adjustments. Within our communities, we enjoy promoting healthy living and wellness with proper nutrition and exercise.
Programs Offered Through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC)
In addition to promoting and educating the public regarding Gulf Coast Health Center’s locations and services that are available to our patients at an affordable cost, we also attend health fairs to help advocate for public health programs provided by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. These include programs, such as:
- Medicaid
- SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)
- CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program)
- HTW (Healthy Texas Women)
Many individuals who qualify for these programs often go underserved because they’re unaware of the available benefits. In addition to promoting HHSC programs, we do our best to help patients understand the Affordable Care Act and the benefits made available under its legislation.
